Gold Cup by Angel Gonzalez

The Gold Cup 2013 started on July 7, 2013.  It started with 12 teams: U.S., Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica, Honduras, Belize, El Salvador, Cuba, Trinidad and Tobago, Haiti and Martinique.  They started with a rough start, but as the tournament progressed, 4 semifinalists have emerged: Mexico, Panama, USA, and Honduras.

These 4 teams are doing their best with good passes, good strategy, and good players. The favorites for the finals are Panama and Honduras.  Both coaches of these awesome teams are trying to do their best to do what the people want.  For the Gold Cup, the teams are playing only in US stadiums as opposed to global stadiums.

The reigning champion is Mexico with 2011's winning goal. This year's final is on July 28, and will e  either at Soldier Field in Chicago or Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Cali.  For this story we interviewed a literature and scrapbooking teacher at Breakthrough Silicon Valley at Hillbrook, Jennifer Cruz. Cruz has a long history with soccer.
"I played soccer for 2 years when I was around 12 years old," said Cruz. "I love watching soccer with my dad; it's like a father and daughter bond."

Michelle Knight was the first female to disappear. Amanda Berry was the 2 one missing and Gina DeJesus was the 3rd. Berry gave birth to one of Castro's children, while Knight was pregnant 4 times, but lost her pregnancy by being hit in the stomach brutally by Castro.  These women were raped and sexually abused many times.  Amanda Berry was forced to give labor, also her child was 6 years old when they found the women captive. We have interviewed Joseline Gonzalez from Crew 8, who teaches writing and dance.

"I can't believe that there are people who do bad stuff like this to other people.  We should definitely provide psychological help," Gonzalez said. "I don't think he deserves death sentence. Because NO ONE has the power to take someone's life."

"I'm really angry at how the girls were treated because like I mentioned before no one should be able to take someone's life or hurt them," said Gonzalez.

Do you think Castro deserves the death sentence?
